This page is a way for us to pass along useful technical tips as well as providing updated information as the product changes. Any new technical notices will be posted in the latest information section at the top. A permanent part of this page will be links to the Citrix clients and District WESPaC URL’s. As well as the WSIPC Release schedule and Workstation requirements at the bottom of the page. Latest Information
The Official Citrix client for PC computers is version 11.
I have included links at the bottom of the page. As well as the
new workstation requirements and MAC Citrix instructions in that section.
Adobe Connect Some districts may need to make a hole in the Fire Wall to the WISPC Adobe Connect server. I have included the server address and port information.
connect.wsipc.org 152.157.6.3 WSIPC has also provided a test link to see if the connection is working and the client has the necessary Flash player and Add-in:
http://connect.wsipc.org/common/help/en/support/meeting_test.htm Most should already meet the basic requirements for hardware and software with the following additional requirements. The Connect Add-in is installed per user. Unfortunately there is no pre-install link I can provide other than the test process above. Each user will need to be able to install this Add-in or have tech install it when the user is logged in. If it is not pre-installed then the user needs to have permission enough to install it the first time they need Connect support. Most districts users already have the capacity to do this. Others will need to install Flash and the Add-in installed for them.
Citrix portal PC tips For users who do not have Citrix installed please contact your district technical staff for installation. Or refer to the linked Document here.
As of
July 2009
everyone should be using a Citrix version 11.xx client.
It is now the
only client WSIPC recognizes due to some problems with transcript printing in
Version 9. Version 11 Citrix also has a Universal printer for printing to hard to match printers. This gets around issues with matching drivers we have had in the past. Contact me for details on how to use this. Citrix ICA file not found. This message is usually an easy fix. The solution involves going into IE / Tools / Internet Options, and selecting delete files in the Temporary Internet Files section and restart IE. If this does not fix the problem please have your tech staff contact J.C. Sain at NWRDC to further troubleshoot this problem.
Citrix portal MAC tips For users who do not have Citrix installed please contact your district technical staff for installation. Please refer to the correct link below. MAC OS 10.3 or higher are currently the only recommended versions with 10.3 being in twilight. Version 11 should be the only version for the MAC and helps fix some connectivity issues. NOTE: on the latest version of Citrix with the most recent Fire Fox update you will want to change the ICA client Editor network setting back to TCP/HTTP. In previous versions only TCP was used and TCP/HTTP caused problems.Using Safari with Citrix. While Safari works with the EA+ product for teachers. Safari will not work properly with Citrix. Citrix and Safari do not work well together and the most obvious problem is users cannot print to their local printers from Citrix. Firefox is also on the workstation guidance listing and would be my browser of choice for Citrix.
