As we enter the 2026-27 school year, we are pleased to share some important news regarding leadership within the Student Information Services team.
First, we want to celebrate and honor the legendary Kathy Bisig, who will be retiring after an extraordinary 21-year career with the NWRDC and over 36 years supporting schools. Over more than three decades, Kathy has been an irreplaceable pillar of support for school districts across our region. Her unwavering dedication, deep systems expertise, and warm, client-focused approach have shaped the high standard of service our district partners rely on every day. We extend our deepest gratitude to Kathy for her remarkable contributions, mentorship, and friendship, and we wish her all the best in her well-deserved next chapter!
Starting Monday, September 21st, Will Smith will officially step into the role of Software Support Analyst Manager, leading our Student Information Services team, as Kathy takes some much deserved time off in preparation for her next adventure.
We know how vital continuity, trust, and deep K-12 systems knowledge are when supporting your schools, and we are thrilled to introduce a leader who brings extensive hands-on experience in district operations. Will joins us after spending the last eight years as the Director of Technology and District Skyward Student Manager for the Coupeville School District. In that role, he managed student information systems for over 1,100 users and successfully directed their districtwide transition from Skyward SMS 2.0 to Qmlativ. Having served directly in a school district, Will intimately understands the daily rhythms, state reporting mandates, and software challenges that school administrators, registrars, and support staff face.
In addition to his K-12 district background, Will brings a rich foundation in technical instruction and personnel coaching, including more than nine years of service in the U.S. Navy, where he earned his Master Training Specialist certification. He is deeply passionate about mentoring staff, simplifying complex software processes for non-technical users, and cultivating strong, collaborative partnerships with schools and our colleagues at NWESD, PSESD, and WSIPC.
